I began my career as a researcher and a genealogist when I was hired as the Library Director
of the Historical Society of Baltimore County on November 30, 2004. My first major experience began when I came across a letter
written in 2002 in the Society's files. I discovered that the answer had been in the file and had just been overlooked.
I contacted the researcher and assisted him in finding the answers for which he was seeking. With that success,
I went on to assist others in both genealogical and historical research. I endeavored in my own genealogy and through
my efforts, I have connected with several relatives previously unknown to me. I traveled to Vermont August 2008 to visit
various sites to learn more about my fourth-great-grandfather, Jacob Clement, which has allowed me to grow as a professional. From
my own experience and the experiences of others, I have developed a program which encourages the preservation of the history
captured by photographs to prevent the tragedy so many people experience when they inherit unidentified photographs. I
have presented several programs focusing on genealogical research and local history and am continuing to develop a
history of Parkton, hopefully for publication some day.
